Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. SCR Project
Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) operates seven carbon black production lines and implemented SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems in 2017 and 2018 (units EC1 and EC2) to reduce NOx emissions. The SCR technology achieved stable denitrification efficiency above 90%, significantly lowering emission levels to meet ultra-low standards.

The primary emissions sources included boiler exhaust and production line waste gases with high initial NOx concentrations (600–800 mg/Nm3). Due to the unique conditions of the carbon black production process, the flue gas had high moisture content, and multiple gas streams needed integration within the SCR system.
Solution
GUANTONG SHENGSHI provided a tailored SCR system design focusing on the SCR layout, catalyst selection, and system performance optimization. They leveraged CFD modeling to ensure proper gas velocity, temperature distribution, and NH3/NOx distribution within the SCR device. Modular 3D modeling was also employed to reduce on-site construction costs and manage SCR components effectively, including the reductant supply and ammonia production systems.
Results
The SCR system reduced NOx emissions to below 50 mg/Nm3, meeting stringent environmental standards and supporting Cabot’s commitment to ultra-low emissions.
